The
Theory Test is a computerised test usually taken at the centre
nearest to your home. There are two parts to the Theory Test,
a multiple choice test and a hazard perception test.
You have to pass both parts to obtain your Theory certificate. |
| The
Driving Standards Agency (DSA) recommend that you study the
Highway Code, The Driving Manual and Know your Traffic Signs (all
DSA publications). They also publish The Official Theory Test for
Car drivers which lays out the whole bank of over
1400 questions and gives advice on why certain answers are
correct. Multi-media CD-ROM's are also available on the market and
can make the whole learning process that little bit more
interesting. To cover the Hazard Perception part of the test there
is a 'Roadsense' video also available from the DSA. |
  |
 |
There
are some 150 Theory Test centres around the country, bookings can
be made over the phone using debit/credit cards or otherwise forms
are available for postal applications. In the multiple choice test
questions will appear on the computer screen one at a time and you
select the answers simply by touching the screen. You can return
to any of the questions later and change the answers if you want
to. There are 35 questions in the test and you need to answer 30
correctly to pass. You are allowed 40 minutes for this part of the
Theory Test. |
|
The
second part of the test, the 'Hazard Perception Test', comprises a
series of 14 video clips chosen at random from a selection of 200.
This test, assesses your ability to identify potential driving
hazards as they develop. The 'Hazard Perception Test' will take
approximately 15 minutes. You will be given your results for
the tests before you leave the test centre - remember, you need to
pass both the Multiple Choice Test and Hazard Perception Test in
the same session to gain your certificate.
Since
the introduction of the Theory Test back in 1996, Pass
Masters has experimented with various methods of helping
its pupils pass the test. Its pupil base has been regularly
surveyed and the overwhelming preferred choice of its learners is
home study.

The
majority have always said that if we could recommend or supply
good quality reading material then they would do the studying at
home. Therefore, your Pass Masters Instructor
will have books and practice papers available to loan to help you
study. In addition, your Instructor will randomly ask you
questions during your lessons and is always prepared to explain or
clarify any of your questions. |
For
those requiring additional help,
Pass Masters can offer one-to-one Theory tuition. |
